The Niagara Centre Riding covers the area of the Niagara Region from South St. Catharines to Thorold, Welland, Port Colborne and all the spaces in-between.
Provincially the NDP has represented the voters of Niagara Centre for over 40 years. Our current MPP, Cindy Forster, has been at Queen's Park since 2011. Prior to that, the riding was represented by NDP members Peter Kormos (1988-2011) and Mel Swart (1975-1988). From 2008 to 2015 the NDP also represented Niagara Centre in Ottawa as well, where Malcolm Allen served two terms as our Federal MP.
We have both a Federal and Provincial Niagara Centre NDP Riding Association. Riding associations are the face of the Party and its Leader to local citizens, organizations, community groups, and potential supporters. Often, the riding association will be the point of first contact for interested members of the public. The riding association executive meet approximately once a month to discuss and plan business. Riding associations are the NDPs community both during and between elections. The riding association will engage in activities throughout the year aimed at recruiting, training, and retaining supporters of the Party and its Leader. A healthy, active, and organized riding association often means the difference between victory or defeat in the next election. To achieve victory we need volunteers like you.
