With 30 years’ experience in the NDP, the labour movement and as a political activist, Jeff Burch has the political, party, and professional experience to win Niagara Centre for the NDP and continue the “people first” legacy of Mel Swart, Peter Kormos and Cindy Forster.
Jeff joined the NDP as a Brock University student and has held various positions from riding president to candidate in both St. Catharines and Welland ridings. Most recently Jeff served as fundraising officer and membership secretary in the Niagara Centre NDP. Jeff has served Niagara Centre residents in the past when he was elected to two terms as a Merritton City Councillor in 2006 and served as St. Catharines Budget Chair in 2013-2014.
The son of an autoworker and lifelong Niagara resident, Jeff spent 15 years in the labour movement as a Steelworkers organizer, local union president and as a Negotiator for front line health care workers with the Service Employees Union. Since 2010, Jeff has been the Executive Director and CEO for the Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural Centre. Jeff has become a leader in the immigration sector as Chair of the Niagara Refugee Assistance Committee and Regional Director and Corporate Secretary of the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI).
Most recently, Jeff has demonstrated his community leadership abilities as a lead organizer of the Ed Smith Legal Defense Fund and grassroots municipal political organization A Better Niagara. When he is not working to improve his community Jeff can be found with his wife Linda and son Jackson camping or working in the garden.
