Pat Chiocchio is currently serving his fourth consecutive term as a Welland City Councillor. Having been a life-long resident of Welland he has the passion and understanding of the communities of Niagara Centre to make a difference at Queen’s Park.
As a Welland City Councillor Pat has served on many committees and boards including Health Care Committee where he assisted in obtaining 25,000 signatures to save the Welland Hospital and Port Colborne Urgent Care. In addition he served as Chair of Integrated Services, Transit Advisory Committee, Safe Community Partnership, Economic Development Committee as well as Budget Review Committee.
As part of his city council duties he served as Vice Mayor representing the mayor at community events and chairing public hearings and general committee meetings.
Pat studied gerontology at Niagara College which led him to a successful 33 year career with the Niagara Region as an Adult Day Service Coordinator in long term care. In his role he developed, implemented and evaluated a therapeutic program addressing the emotional, social, physical and intellectual needs of the seniors. He understands seniors’ issues and concerns and is a strong advocate for them.
Pat is aware of the perils of the youth, after graduation they are unable to find jobs which match their skills and education. He is dedicated to attracting companies and businesses to the area which offer highly skilled, high paying jobs making for a stronger economy.
In his current role as President for CUPE 1263 he has further developed his negotiation skills which serve him well as MPP.
Pat’s passion for social justice, making a tangible difference in the community and resolving people’s problems makes him the ideal NDP MPP candidate.
