The Executive
The riding association is the most local organization within the party. Together as members, we have the task of selecting our local NDP candidates, engaging with community members about NDP policies and initiatives, and building our skills and resources to successfully support our candidates in election campaigns. We also have a key role in internal NDP processes, sending delegates to party conventions and advancing policy positions within the NDP. The executive generally meets monthly, and although non-members of the executive are unable to vote at meetings, any member of the NDP in Niagara Centre in good standing is welcome to attend and contribute to our discussions.
Provincial Executive 2024 - 2025
President
Matthew Mengia
Chairs riding association meetings and oversees the administrative and logistical work of the provincial riding association, which includes working closely with the CFO on the audit, with Elections Ontario and Party staff.
Vice President
Maddison Harris
Supports the President in their duties. If the President role is vacated, the Vice President serves as Interim President until a replacement is appointed.
Secretary
Angie Desmarais
Takes minutes at executive meetings, as well as AGMs and other general members meetings.
Treasurer
Daniel Peat
Manages the riding association's finances: (in person) banking, cuts cheques, balances the books, writes and delivers financial reports, handles invoices and receipts, liaises with Elections Ontario, Party financial staff, vendors and the auditor, prepares annual audits.
Election Planning Officer
Adam Baiton
Is responsible for the maintenance of election records, and for assuring that the riding is prepared for the election.
Fundraising Officer
Dustin Stroud
Recruits, directs and is responsible for the activities of a fundraising committee, to which fundraising duties can be delegated; conceives, plans and organizes fundraising events and/or drives.
Communications Officer
Matthew Mengia
Manages the Provincial association’s outreach to members and the community via e-mail, the association website, social media, text, advertising, and traditional media. Work can include writing, editing, web development, photography, video and graphic design.
Youth Officer
Maddison Harris
Serves as point of contact and representative for the riding association with the Ontario New Democratic Youth.
Membership Officer
Haley Anderson
Maintains the provincial riding association's membership list, prepares membership reports, manages membership verification for general meetings, organizes membership recruitment and renewal drives, and manages communication and outreach to the membership.
